About the Company

Every time you fly, almost anywhere in the world, it is likely that GKN Aerospace is helping you along the way. GKN's technology and components are used in 90% of the world's aircraft, from small and large passenger planes, business jets to the world's most advanced fighter jets. They also design and manufacture innovative components for space systems.

GKN Aerospace in Hallstahammar is now looking for an operator for the finishing process in their foundry. In the finishing process, the finished parts from the ovens are checked, cleaned, and corrected using various types of grinding machines.

Your Responsibilities

As an operator, you will work with the finishing and final inspection of cast parts after cutting. The job involves independently ensuring that the parts meet the right quality before moving on to the next process step. You have a keen eye for deviations and work methodically with inspection, cleaning, and grinding of parts of varying sizes, shapes, and materials.

The work is primarily performed sitting at your own workbench, and you will be part of a team working towards common goals.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

  • Inspecting and cleaning parts after cutting.

  • Checking parts for damage, casting defects, and the presence of excess material and grinding these away.

  • Identifying and addressing ceramic inclusions through manual cleaning work.

  • Working with belt grinders and other grinding tools, both handheld and larger machines.

  • Performing rough cleaning of visible deviations.

  • Completing finishing and final inspection of parts before the next process step.

  • Handling many different types of parts in varying sizes, shapes, and materials.

The position is initially scheduled for daytime but may eventually transition to two shifts.

Daytime Working Hours: 06:00–15:00 (Monday–Thursday), 06:00–12:00 (Friday)

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in machines, technology, and mechanics. You are practical, used to working with tools, and can easily understand instructions. You express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and have the ability to work methodically and accurately over time.

We would like you to have practical experience from heavy industry or from roles where you have worked with tools and manual labor, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are also highly valued. You are hardworking, quality-conscious, and enjoy working both independently and in a team.

Additionally, we see that you have:

  • Completed secondary education

  • Driver's license (B)

  • Forklift license (or the possibility to train if needed)

  • Ability to work 2 shifts

Industrial technical education or experience of practical work is an advantage.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where GKN's customer has requirements for security classification, this may involve requirements for certain citizenship.
